A Radish Story

FRESH IN A FLASH

A local farmer carrying a large cardboard box pushes his frayed straw hat to the back of his head as he scopes out the produce floor in search of a familiar face – the produce manager.   He finds his man, and reveals the contents of his cardboard box, perfect organic ruby red radishes, pulled from the field this very morning, cleaned, bunched and ready to grace the daintiest salad.

Leaning over the open box, manager and farmer arrive at a fair price.  Adjusting his hat, the farmer returns to the pick up truck that carries him back to another day of reaping what he’s sown.  The produce manager gently fits the newborn, rosy radishes into his organic line, and reaches for his keys.  It’s 9:00 am, and Guido’s is ready to open for business.

It’s a simple story, but it often happens just like that:  from a farm down the road to Guido’s, to your kitchen, all in a morning.  All in a day’s work that brings the absolute freshest local fruits and vegetables to your table.  No middle-man, no corporate directives, just a friendly conversation between two men who know their produce.  What a fresh idea!
